Assemblies of God, Ghana, has begun the construction of a multi-purpose six-storey office complex to accommodate staff.

The ultra-modern facility expected to be completed in two years has offices for executive presbytery officers, departments and agencies as well as a bookshop, rental space, guest house, restaurant and room for the Prime Insurance Company Limited.

Reverend Dr Paul Frimpong-Manso, the General Superintendent of the Church, who performed the sod-cutting for the project, said the building of the edifice has become necessary because for over 80 years of the church existence it has no office of its own.

“When the first indigenous General Superintendent was elected into office, there was no office accommodation for him, since then, the national office has operated from a rented property,” he said.

He said it was, therefore, time for the Church to build the state-of-the-art office complex to bridge the accommodation and staff office gap; resting place for the officers and reposition the church to give glory to God.

“It is time now to change the status quo, building our own national headquarters facility will strategically position the organization to take advantage of the end-time harvest,” he said.

The head office is currently located in the literature centre building.

Rev Frimpong-Manso expressed worry over the Church’s present site which has insufficient space to accommodate officers, departments and agencies exposed them to environmental hazards and dangers.

“The current location suffers from perennial flooding from the Odaw River which flows right behind the building,” he said.

He appealed to church members, departments of the church, and Diaspora branches of the church, philanthropists, corporate bodies, operational funds and individuals to support the Church in its quest to build a useful office complex.

The Church envisions building the facility in two years, starting from April 7, 2016 [Sod-cutting], and commencement of work, July 4, 2016, while it is estimated to complete in December 2018.

The new headquarters is located at the Ringway Estates and it has been described by many as easily accessible and disability friendly with great commercial value for office rentals and positioned in safe and secured place, being a few meters from the Ghana Police Headquarters.
