PASTOR John Borham, National Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) HAS WARNED Ghanaians against selfishness and corruption which retards the progress and development of the nation.

He noted that despite the pledge by some big men in positions of trust to be faithful and loyal to Ghana their motherland, these same big men turn round and connive with contractors to steal national resources needed to produce badly needed projects.

Pastor Boham who was preaching under the theme, “Responsibilities of Christians’ on the occasion of the 50th Independence anniversary last Sunday, warned Christians against tax evasion.

“It is sinful and unchristian to evade tax and expect the government to develop this country,” he told the congregation.

He said it was wrong for Christians to evade tax with the excuse that government was misapplying the resources.

“It is not your duty as Christians to evade tax because somebody else in a position of trust was going to misapply the funds. God would hold our leaders accountable. It is not your duty (as a Christian) to evade tax on the basis that the money would be squandered,” he stated.

Pastor Borham noted that if Ghanaians would be sincere towards the payment of tax, external borrowing would reduce in no time for the nation to progress as expected.

He noted that Africans should blame themselves for the poverty that has bedevilled the continent since God has bestowed abundant resources for the continent.

The Deeper Life National Overseer urged Christians to desist from unnecessary attacks and insults on the leaders because of the differences of views. “It is sinful and unchristian to insult their political leaders,” he pointed out. He urged Christians to intercede for the people in positions of trust, and stop making unfounded allegations against them.

“We must love our country and pray constantly for the leaders, while being proud that we are Ghanaians. If you set your house on fire where would you run to,” he questioned.

He said that Ghanaians should be grateful to God for seeing the nation through, since independence.

Pastor Boham, appealed to Ghanaians to desist from environmental pollution.

“God made a good world and environment but dirt and pollution by carelessness of human beings have destroyed it. “Are we not the same people who litter the environment and turn round to blame the authorities,” he asked?

The DCLM overseer charged Ghanaians to stand for the truth as the nation celebrates its jubilee, and amend their ways and conform to the will of the Lord for development and progress.
