The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho has asked Christians in the country not to see politics as a 'dirty game' and urged them to take active role in constructive politics.

He made the call on Wednesday at the Speaker’s lobby when members of the Assemblies of God Church from the Hohoe District in the northern part of the Volta Region paid a courtesy call on him. The church members had gone to thank the Speaker for a donation he did during the church’s anniversary last month.

Addressing the delegation led by the General Superintendent, the Speaker said, "Mostly church see politics as an act of paganism, they tend to believe that true Christians do not engage in active politics. We need more Christians in politics to make it serene. If you go back to your church, tell your members to take part in nonpartisan politics because it is only through this that the country can develop politically."

General Superintendent Frimpong Manso lauded the Speaker's call and said, he will convey the message to his congregation. He also thanked the Speaker and the entire legislative body for the active role they are playing in Ghana’s democracy.

"Parliament has been on the frontline in forging Ghana's democracy which is arguably the best in Africa. It is unimaginable that the country will be without a Parliament as strong as what we presently have. We will continue to pray for you for the Lord to strengthen you for the good work you are doing," he said.
