A renowned preacher, Reverend Dr. Nana Anyani Boadum has called on government to give the legal backing for the establishment of a self-regulatory body that will control activities and the propagation of churches in Ghana.

Rev. Anyani Boadum believes over 90 percent of churches springing up in the country have not been identified with any established religious council, hence the difficulty to regulate them.

The General Overseer of the Jesus Generation Ministries told sit-in-host Yaa Serwaa Akoto on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Thursday “it won’t solve all our problems but it will be better – we need a law to regulate our conduct”

His call comes on the heels of a weird revelation by the fouer of International Godsway Ministries, Bishop Daniel Obinim who recently disclosed on T.V he could metamorphose into different kinds of animals appearing in people’s dream to cause havoc. He insisted that the people of Ghana have “not seen anything yet concerning the anointing on my life that Jesus gave me.”

However, a section of Ghanaians have condemned the claims of Obinim, who believe such revelations of Obinim are dangerous of a genuine man of God.

Rev. Anyani Boadum in the wake of the perceived ill-conduct of leaders of some new charismatic churches said the compulsion to incorporate all churches under one umbrella body with the necessary legal structure like the National Media Commission(NMC) will help bring sanity into the system.

“I dare say that this will not mean government will be controlling us, but for the effective regulation of churches,” he noted.
