Leadership of the EPCG in a group picture with Pastors
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana (EPCG) on Sunday July 8, 2018 commissioned thirteen (13) ministerial candidates who will be assigned to propagate the gospel of Christ in various congregations nationwide.
The new pastors who comprise twelve (12) males and a female undertook various theological study progammes at The Trinity Theological Seminary Legon.
They are Rev. Agorbia Matthieu Rene, Rev. Cephas Worlasi Dadzie, Rev. Biamawu Fred Sam-Davordzie, Rev. Innocent Jefferson Mawusi Attipoe, Rev. Isaac Korsi Nukporfe, Rev. Joshua Govinah, Rev. Mat-Joe Komla Boateng, Rev. Matthew Kwame Atsu, Rev. Komladzei Sitsofe Nutifafa, Rev. Dickson Othniel Adjei, Rev. Gadeka Solomon, Rev. Wisdom Atiatrogah and Rev. Gifty Yaa Tamakloe.
The commissioning is a requirement of the Church for candidates who perform satisfactorily after a stipulated period of ministerial formation at a recognized institution. They will serve as probationers for two years before they are ordained into the church.
Delivering the sermon on the theme, ´Jesus has power over unclean spirits´, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi stated that, only Christ has authority to destroy unclean spirits.
He noted that, such disruptive spirits which include greed, murder, violence, and all forms of rebellion which threaten peaceful coexistence affects the peace and stability of the world as compared to the way Christ intends it to be.
He therefore called on Christians to seek the will of God earnestly in prayer, humility, fellowship and love for one another.
The Candidates were presented by Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Amey. Rt. Rev Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi who administered the commissioning rites charged the pastors to eschew all forms of selfishness, pride and rather pursue forgiveness, peace and the will of God. ´
It is only the truthful teachings of God that will save us in this fallen world. You must have the courage to defend issues that affect our world and the Lord shall duly meet your needs and give you true fulfillment´ he assured them.
Rev Innocent J. Attipoe, a representative of the newly commissioned pastors expressed appreciation to the Church for the support received over the years. He noted that with the help of God, they would serve in the true faith diligently.
The much celebrated event was well attended by the immediate past moderator of the Church; Very Rev. Francis Amenu and the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose, the Presbyter Executive, Presbyter Jonas Dzodzodzi, General Assembly Council members, All Synod Moderators as well as other prominent members of the church.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana and Eglise Evangelique Presbyterianne du Togo are products of the missionary efforts of the North German Missionary Society (Bremen Mission) founded on April 9,1836.
The vision of the church is to be a dynamic agent of God leading in the Great Commission to bring light where there is darkness through holistic propagation of the gospel.
