The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), has extended a heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency (H.E.) John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their resounding victory in the December 7, 2024, Presidential Election.
In a recent press statement, the church also congratulated all the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidates who secured seats in Ghana’s Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
In the same breath, they commended H.E. Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his maturity and sincerity in conceding defeat.
“We acknowledge his graciousness in congratulating his main opponent, for emerging as the President-elect. His swift and peaceful concession has played a crucial role in easing tensions, helping to avert potential unrest in some parts of the country,” parts of the statement read.
The statement added, “We also express our sincere gratitude to all political actors, the media, local and international observer groups, the diplomatic corps, the National Peace Council, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), security personnel, and the Electoral Commission (EC). Their tireless efforts have been instrumental in ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and successful election process.”
The church then called on Ghanaians, regardless of political, tribal, or religious affiliation, to set aside any differences and demonstrate unity, affection, and patriotism.
“We urge the citizenry to support the incoming government in its quest to drive Ghana’s socio-economic development, thereby building the confidence of both Ghanaians and potential investors, while preserving the nation's long-standing values of peace and democracy,” the statement read.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) wishes to joyfully congratulate His Excellency (H.E) John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for winning the December 7, 2024, Presidential Election with an emphatic landslide.
Similarly, we congratulate the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidates who have won their seats in the legislature of Ghana’s Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
The Church also commends H.E Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for demonstrating a sense of maturity and sincerity in conceding defeat and further congratulated his main opponent, H.E John Mahama for emerging victorious as the President-elect. Indeed, his prompt concession has eased the rising tension that could possibly result in chaos in some parts of the country.
We equally expressed gratitude to various political actors and relevant stakeholders including the contestants and their followers, the media, local and international observer groups, the diplomatic corps, the National Peace Council, NCCE, state regulatory institutions such as security personnel, and the Electoral Commission (EC) for diverse roles played in ensuring a successful election.
We entreat all Ghanaians, irrespective of political, tribal, and religious affiliation to bury their differences, if any, and demonstrate a high sense of affection, sensitivity, and patriotism to preserve the country’s long-standing peaceful and stable democratic values while rallying support to the President-Elect and his incoming government in the quest of Ghana’s socio-economic growth required to instill confidence in the citizenry and potential investors.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana assures the in-coming NDC government of its firm allegiance and partnership in the areas of education, health, advocacy in social interventions including environment and climate change as well as providing religious intercession in accordance with our mission of “Bringing Light to where there is Darkness”.
