Kumasi, Feb. 24, GNA - Primate Seth Adofo, Spiritual Head of the Church of the Lord Brotherhood, has said that the continued adoption of foreign cultures would not help us as a nation.
He said on no grounds should Ghanaians, especially Christians allow foreign cultures such as dressing, eating habits and the like to derail the nation's religious and cultural development.
Primate Adofo was speaking at an annual seminar in Kumasi on Friday on the theme: "The Role of the Church in Nation Building", organized by the Church for its ministers and pastors from the various branches in Ghana, Benin, Togo and Cameroon.
The week-long programme, which attracted over 130 ministers and pastors from the various branches of the Church, was to rekindle the spiritual and physical development of the participants and also help them to draw effective programmes and activities for the development of the Church.
Primate Adofo observed that illiteracy was the major problem hampering the socio-religious development of many Ghanaians and called on the ministers to work hard to reverse the trend. He stressed the need for them to encourage parents to send their children to school and also to educate and to put the fear of the lord in them so that they could become useful citizens. The Spiritual Leader pointed out that God had made the Bible a guide for Christians and so they should use it as leaders in their work.
Opening the Seminar, Bishop James Yaw Ahenkorah, General Secretary of the Church with its headquarters at South Suntreso in Kumasi, advised the pastors to remain steadfast and humble and allow God to direct and control them in their pastoral activities. He called on them to organize regular prayers for the nation as it prepared for elections this year so that the election would end in peace and in unity. He appealed to them to be self-disciplined so that they did not become corrupt at any levels in their work.
