The Council also installed the GMC Muslim Chiefs, Queen mothers, Madina Imam and sworn into office the branch executives of the Madina GMC.

The occasion, which was held at the La-Nkwantanang Madina Central Mosque, was graced by Nii Kotei Dzor, La-Nkwantanang Chief, Alhaji Baba Seidu, Elder of Council of Madina Zongo Chiefs, other traditional councils and Muslim sects across the Region.

The installation was officiated by Sheikh Ibrahim Banci, Deputy National Imam of the Shia Ahlu Bait.

Alhaji Abubakari Sadiq Boniface, Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development charged the leadership of the Council to promote peace among the religious sects in the Region.

He expressed happiness for the establishment of the GMC and advised its leadership against partisanship.

Alhaji Boniface who is also the Member of Parliament for Madina/Abokobi urged Muslims in the country to support his Ministry to achieve its targeted goals of transforming Zongos and improve the living conditions of people in these communities.

He said the development of Zongos was dear to the heart of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the passion for the Zongo development informs the decision for the creation of the Ministry.

Sultan Ahmed Nii Nortey Caesar, Founder and Executive Director of the GMC, said: “In the common man, God ordains to redeem His people” and urged the Ga-Dangme Muslims to rise up and elevate their status.

He said the title would raise the dignity and status of Ga-Dangme Muslims to give credence to the core objectives of the GMC.

The GMC core objectives are to mobilise and harness the potential and pool resources to develop Ga-Dangme Muslims to participate in all developmental activities which would enrich their lives and fortunes religiously, socio-economically and secularly.

Sultan Caesar said the GMC as an institution was established to institutionalise and impact on Ga-Dangme Muslims the benefits and opportunities in Islam and Ghana as a whole.

He said Ga-Dangmes were not under one umbrella but well positioned to organise institutions that checked their well-being and progress in the Muslim religion.

“Until March 12, 2015 when we started the installation of Ga Dangme District Chief Imams, our people never knew we could do better than that,” he said.
