The government’s efforts alone cannot build the nation without attitudinal change and contributions of the citizenry, Prophet Daniel Obeng Gyau, the Founder and General Overseer of Christian Fidelity Ministry International (CFMI) has stated.

He observed that corruption had become a socio-economic canker that had eaten into the entire fabric of the Ghanaian society.

This, the Reverend Minister regretted was a major contributory factor impeding the nation’s holistic and speedy development which was consequently causing untold hardships on ordinary Ghanaians.

Prophet Gyau made the statement during a sermon on the theme “Arise for It is Your Task” at a Church service to climax the fifth anniversary celebration of the CFMI on Sunday in Sunyani.

He bemoaned “the citizenry`s mindset and lackadaisical attitude towards work was not only decreasing productivity, but also breeding corruption”.

Prophet Gyau explained that everybody was created to make positive impact to fulfill the purpose of God`s creation but not to indulge in social and economic vices to draw the clock of national progress backwards.

“A 40-day prayer and fasting without integrity, sacrifice and dedication to the cause of one’s community and country does not make one a true Christian and such a spiritual exercise will not yield any positive result”, he emphasised.

He said with the nation’s abundant natural and human resources, it could have developed without going for external loans, but the Prophet pointed out, self-interest, corruption and other nation-wrecking practices coupled with poor policy implementation “have always made us to move around the globe with cup in hand for assistance before we can finance our annual budgets”.

Touching on sanitation, Prophet Gyau suggested the need for a Legislative Instrument for strong punitive measures against individuals and groups whose actions and inactions caused the nation huge amount of money in sanitation management.
