The Accra Presbytery Choir Union of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), has ended its four-day rally with a call on Christians to make time to study and understand the word of God to grow spiritually.
Reverend Emmanuel Barrigah, Director, Church Life and Nurture of GEC implored Christians to meditate on the word of God, obey the scriptures and be prayerful to stand the test of any temptation that might come their way.
Rev Barrigah made the call on Sunday at a thanksgiving service of the Church’s triennial rally in Accra on the theme: “Waling with God the Holy Spirit, The Church Choir in Perspective.”
Speaking on the topic: “The Secret of Power in Music,” said music plays an important role in worship, while the worship of God cannot be complete without prayer, word of God and music.
He explained that music is used as a means to bring hope to the hopeless, deliverance to the oppressed, comfort to the broken heartedness as well as development.
Rev Barrigah noted that spiritual songs invoke the spirit of God to respond to our needs, urging Christians to always meditate on their songs since it touches on spiritual importance in uplifting our growth.
He urged Christians to sing spiritual songs and not contemporary songs which have no significance to the spiritual growth of Christian life.
He appealed to the choirs to give generously to the church to undertake developmental projects because there is blessing in giving than in receiving.
Rev Barrigah commended the Church choirs for their selflessness and dedication, and that the role of the choir in the church provides a solemn moment for worship.
Rev Samuel Kwadzo, President of the Accra Presbytery Church Choirs Union of GEC said the rally was to revive the unions in Accra to learn and build upon its ministry through singing and worshiping God.
“The rally is critical because it focuses on the importance of music, in that through music we are preaching the gospel and winning souls for transformation and a peaceful existence “he added.
He said the rally started from Thursday September 3, engaged in activities such as devotion, song ministration, health talk and donated assorted items worth GH¢ 2,000 to the Teshie Orphanage home.
The church has 14 presbyters in Accra with 51 participating choirs and a membership of 2,000.
