Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Minister of Youth and Sports, has called on religious bodies to collaborate with the government to ensure the rapid development of the nation.
He said the growth and development of the nation should not be the responsibility of the government alone.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah made the call in an address read on his behalf at the opening of this years’ conference of Accra Presbytery of the Global Evangelical Church at Adenta near Madina in the Greater Accra Region.
About 1,000 members of the church drawn from the Region are attending the two-day conference on the theme: “Knowing God the Holy Spirit.”
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah said the government had established a Youth Enterprise Fund and urged the youth to take advantage of it and source fund to increase their businesses.
He commended the contribution of the church and also urged them to intensify their evangelism in order to win more souls for Christ.
Reverend Felix Mensah Agbo, Accra Presbytery Chairman of the church congratulated President John Dramani Mahama on his appointment as the ECOWAS Chairman and expressed the hope that he would work towards the economic integration of the Region.
Rev. Dr. Christian Gbekor, Rector of the Global Theological Seminary said the seminary would be accredited by the end of September and appealed to the church to support the facility to bring more courses on board.
