The Global Evangelical Church has organized a five-day youth camp at Suhum in the Eastern Region aimed at building up the relationship between the youth and God.
About 3,700 youth from 756 branches of the Global Evangelical Church converged for the camping, which ended on Sunday.
The camping was also to reshape participants in order to grow their partnership in the Holy Ghost and to offer them exposure in their evangelization through which more souls would be won for Christ.
Closing the “Evangelistic meeting” at the Suhum Secondary/Technical Senior High School grounds, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Edem Kwaku Tettey, Moderator of the Church, called on those appointed to responsible positions to work with the fear of God in their heart.
He noted that, one needed wisdom to perform creditably, and that any population which lacked moral discipline and was intellectually infantile would naturally fall.
He said the country is facing economic challenges that needs the intervention of the Almighty God and prayed that; “God would kindle the nation to His glory, that the country may shine as stars and also deliver it from the evil action and evil spirit that had been upsetting its ways”.
The Moderator, who is the spiritual and administrative head of the church, asked God to let His glory be upon the nation and also alter the present difficult times to comfort, and to pour everlasting peace on the nation.
He prayed God to grant the President of the nation, his Vice, Ministers of State and Parliamentarians the strength to endure hardness as good soldiers of Christ and as leaders of the nation.
The RT. Rev. Dr. Tettey said government must not relent on its desire of helping the youth, especially the girl-child, and that they must be trained to acquire skills to make them employable or be self-employed.
In this way, he said, the youth could be prevented from engaging in immoral activities that could result in contracting sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS, adding; “that is why the Global Evangelical Church wants to supplement the efforts of the government, through the youth camping”.
He called on parents to take interest in their wards education and also help those who could not make it into high institutions to acquire skills.
He appealed to the municipal and district assemblies to release funds for the youth groups to enable them to engage in small-scale businesses and other meaningful trades.
Rev. Hoenyame Arise Kodjo Agbesinyale, National Youth Co-ordinator of the church, said the huge gathering (camping) brought upon the youth the Christian values, spiritual growth and the realization that “Christianity is life of commitment”.
Rev. Agbesinyale told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that there was the need to acknowledge “the hardship of our creator and submit to His will that His purpose for our life would be fulfilled”.
Other speakers were Rev. Prince Yao Tefe, Synod Clerk, Rev. Samuel Dickson K. Dumevi, Rev. P.K. Dzisenu, Host Pastor, Mr. Felix Bankas and Mr. Dannis Ohene, both Camp Executives.
