The recent election of Very Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam to the high office of Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana has brought relief, joy and hope to some of us who love and cherish John Wesley ' s dream of spreading Scriptural Holiness.
Having followed his ministry albeit succinctly, for years, his elevation by God's grace, is to say the least heartwarming. For those who have followed him from his early days of ministry it reallyis no surprise.
Very Reverend Andam, a dyed –in- the wool Minister, and minister means servant, has worked really hard and taken his ministry as a true vocation.
Having come into contact with him briefly but variously in Accra and a few other places, I could not but note that few love the Lord and ministry (for the right reasons) as he does. We thank God that such a hard worker has charge of no mean a Diocese as the Kumasi Diocese, God willing, for the next 6 years.
To say that Very Reverend Andam deserves this position is to be whispering a reality. Most importantly, this epic event in the said Diocese in particular and The Methodist Church Ghana in general confirms a Scriptural truism that stares one in the face thus:
‘This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.
JEREMIAH 9: 23 & 24 [NIV]
Even more it puts some of us at rest for it is proof that our Church will still survive and again that God has not utterly abandoned The Methodist Church Ghana. (Lamentations 5:21 &22)
Congratulations Osofopanyin Christopher Nyarko Andam! May God use you as a viable end time weapon to haul in the vast Harvest. The fields are indeed white, be the sickle God uses zucchetto, crosier or ecclesiastical ring notwithstanding.
Ayekooooo!!
