Government must stop the blame game-Bishop

Right Reverend Dr John Buabeng-Odoom, Presiding Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, has urged government to stop blaming previous regimes for doing little to help solve the nation's energy crisis.

Rather, he said, government must do all it could to find a lasting solution to the problem.

Rt Rev Dr Buabeng-Odoom, made the call in a sermon to close the 54th Annual Synod of the Winneba Diocese of the Church at Agona Swedru.

He said it was regrettable that the situation had affected businesses of all kind, thereby creating economic and social hardships for Ghanaians, and therefore urged government to tackle the problem with all seriousness.

Rt Rev Dr Buabeng-Odoom said Ministers of State and communicators of the government must refrain from doing politics with the situation, and be bold to tell Ghanaians the truth about the crisis.

He said some big companies and other small-scale businesses were collapsing, and this had resulted in the dismissal of innocent workers.

The Presiding Bishop regretted that even though Christians were in the majority, unfortunately corruption and bribery could not be controlled, and these social cankers tearing the nation apart.

He, therefore, called for a national crusade against the canker.

On Education, Rt Rev Dr Buabeng-Odoom, said churches must partner the government to train the youth, adding that the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church was doing everything possible to build more schools in the area.

Bishop Buabeng-Odoom urged Christians to lead lives worthy of emulation, saying that Christians must not be wicked, but righteous at all times.

He disclosed that the Winneba Diocese has embarked on an evangelism drive this year to win more souls for Christ, and added that the planting of more churches in the Diocese was their other aim to spread the gospel to every corner of the Diocese.
