Ho, Sept. 30, GNA - Alhaji Hamza Danjuma, Volta Regional Chief Imam, on Tuesday suggested that the government should take full responsibility of the organization of this year's Haij, if early signs indicate that the contracted organizers would fail the nation again. He said this would save Moslems wishing to take the yearly pilgrimage to Mecca the agony, embarrassment and humiliation they normally go through.

Alhaji Danjumah made the suggestion when he addressed a large crowd of Moslems, who gathered at the Police Training School Park in Ho to mark Eid-ul Fitirr or the end of the Ramadan fasting prayers. He said "the leadership of the Moslem community, especially those in academia, Moslem Members of Parliament and Ministers have woefully failed us so government must take over the challenge to organize the Haij for Moslems.

Alhaji Danjumah said the lessons learnt during the Ramadan should make them law abiding, humble and tolerant adding that the lessons were sufficient to carry them through life.

He told the Moslems that God had already chosen a President for the country so they must conduct themselves well during the election to maintain the peace that the country is enjoying. Captain George Nfodjo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central advised the Moslems not to allow themselves to be used by Politicians, who would neglect them after they won political power. He also advised them to send their children to school as that was the only way to eradicate poverty from the Zongos. Capt. Nfodjo later donated eight (25 kilograms) bags of rice to them.
