Islam and Homosexuality setting the records straight

Thu, 13 Dec 2012 Source: ADAM HABEEB GAFFARU

Frankly speaking I have been motivated by a pretender and a fallacious

writer who as a result of his uncontrollable libido, gone astray by

following his hearth desires, by simply forgetting the quranic verse in a

close translation: that our souls are indeed directing us to sin. This is

clearly satanic ideology been propagated by what I called "western culture"

where due to democracy every biological animal has it or his/her right,

forgetting that there are limitations to these rights. Just as I will

commend the human effort in introducing democracy, I will also say that

Democracy itself allows freedom of religion, as a result each religion has

its own dictates the do and don't and Islam is not an exception.

Contrary to Islamic tradition of Quran and Sunnah the ABC News publication

on Tue, Nov 27, 2012 By DRAGANA JOVANOVIC on the subject "Gay Mosque to

Open in Paris" who interviewed Ludovic Mohammed Zahed and termed him as

Quran expert and a gay Muslim. I have no means of confirming the

authenticity of the story or otherwise, but if indeed the story is true,

then I beg to differ he will not and never be an expert in Islam or the

Quran by this stand. Mr. Zahed throughout his argument never gave a single

verse from the Quran or hadith to buttress the legality or I must say his

legalization of gay or lesbianism rather he was referring to 10th and 14th

century Muslims, and that the criminality of gay and lesbian came as a

result of European colonization.

As a research student, writing his thesis on Islam and homosexuality I

expected him to have dived deeper and do more consultations on the subject

with Islamic perspective or scholars. But he was rather using his personal

feelings and what he feels the society should accept as normal and usual.

Mr. Zahed has forgotten that for every normal society abnormality will

remain abnormal and normality will remain normal especially if there is a

written record for reference that has proven to stand the test of time such

as Quran and hadith, to guide the society from generation to generation.

Remember the activities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the people of Lut referred to

as "Lot" in the Hebrew Scriptures. The reason for its destruction among

other things is Gay and Lesbianism, which was considered as sin but the

people refused and continue the sinful act until they had the visitation of

the wrath of ALLAH. See also the 19th chapter of Genesis

There are about five references in the Qur'an which have been cited as

referring to gay and lesbian behavior, obviously with social recognition of

effeminate men and masculine women, homosexual behavior as referred to in

the Quran include: (Quran English Translation & Commentary by Abdullah Yusuf

Ali)

1. "We also sent Lut : He said to his people : "Do ye commit lewdness

such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice

your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people

transgressing beyond bounds." Qur'an 7:80-81

2. "What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, and leave the

wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are forward folk." Qur'an

26:165

3. Qur'an 26.165-166 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach

males, And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay,

ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"

4. Qur'an 27.055 Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than

women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant!

5. Qur'an 29.028-29 And (remember) Lut: behold, he said to his people: "Ye

do commit lewdness, such as no people in Creation (ever) committed before

you. Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practice

wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this:

they said: "Bring us the Wrath of God if thou tellest the truth."

The collections of sayings attributed to prophet Muhammad (SAW) are referred

to as Hadith (ahadith) which also discuss liwat (sexual intercourse between

males). Few examples are:

"When a man mounts another man, the throne of God shakes."

"Kill the one that is doing it and also kill the one that it is being done

to." (in reference to the active and passive partners in gay sexual

intercourse)

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: The Prophet (saws) said: A man should not look

at the private parts of another man, and a woman should not look at the

private parts of another woman. A man should not lie with another man

without wearing lower garment under one cover; and a woman should not be lie

with another woman without wearing lower garment under one cover. (Abu

Dawood)

The Prophet (saws) said: "Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it

be done to him." (Tirmidhi, a sahih (authentic) hadith)

"May Allah curse him who does that Lot's people did." (Ibn Hibban, sahih

(authentic))

"Lesbianism by women is adultery between them." (Tabarani, sahih)"

All Islamic schools of thought and jurisprudence consider gay acts to be

unlawful. They only differ in terms of penalty. We as Muslims need to state

unequivocally and unambiguously that homosexuality is a deviant behavior and

that there is not even an iota of doubt that Islam condemns the behavior.

Even though our religion allows us latitude, more than most, to ponder and

reconsider some issues, homosexuality is clearly and explicitly condemned by

the Quran (7:80-83, 11:77-79), the Prophet, and his progeny.

"The idea for our Paris mosque comes as a result of our conversations," says

Zahed, whose future plans include "a progressive mosque in the UK and then

another one in Denmark will follow." As Muslims we do not make up our

religion, but we receive it and we obey it. Allah has created everything in

pairs each endowed with physical and psychological characteristics to

complement and complete one another. The Quran (4:1) indicates that human

beings have been created from one living entity (nafs), which represents the

origin of both the male and the female. The human species though has

included male and female since its existence. The "mating" or "spousing" of

male and female sexes is original in human nature and out of this

instinctive relationship the human race develops, continues and spreads.

I will therefore at this juncture advise Ludovic Mohammed Zahed and all

other Gays particularly the Muslims to keep a POSITIVE thinking

Don't lose hope! Fear Allah (S.W.T), ask Him for help earnestly, never give

up, and do something to get rid of even the idea of homosexuality. Try to

avoid all of the circumstances that trigger your homosexual feelings, don't

get alone with an attractive man, always be in the company of others, don't

get involved in deep or personal discussions with any person that you may

think will trigger your homosexual feeling. Stay away from any other people

who have similar feelings. Don't even think in such an idea of this subject;

keep yourself busy in different useful thing, and stay away of anything that

remind you of homosexuality. Keep a POSITIVE thinking in your mind and keep

saying to yourself that you can do something about it. Don't ever say I

can't. Remember with every step you are taking toward getting rid of this

habit you are getting help and reward from Allah (S.W.T) and you are

annoying the shaytan.

As Muslims, we identify and instantly come to the defense of any individuals

or groups who are discriminated against. This reaction is due to our

foundational value and commitment to justice, and also from our own

contemporary experiences, as individuals and as members of a group, who have

suffered from discrimination and vilification.

We, as Muslims, have benefit and blessings of divine guidance and wisdom.

The Quran reminds us that Allah (SWT) will change the condition of the

people only if they themselves put forth the effort (13:11). If the

homosexuals can promote their wrong values with vigor and succeed, we have a

duty and a responsibility to not only make an effort to arrest this trend,

but also to invest our time, energy, and resources to promote the divine

values with as much zeal. I am therefore asking that what are you, and in

turn all of us collectively, doing or will do to promote our cherished

Islamic values, and counter this Gay threat?

May ALLAH bless you for having the time to read this
