Goaso (B/A), March. 04, GNA- The chiefs and people as well as religious bodies of Kassapin in the Asunafo North District of the Brong Ahafo region have organized a joint Church service to raise funds in support of the vulnerable in the town. The target beneficiaries were orphans, widows, the physically challenged and the destitute.

Special prayers were also said for members of government and for continued peace and tranquillity in the country. Alhaji Ishaq Abubakar Bonsu, Asunafo District Chief Executive (DCE), addressing the congregation urged religious organizations to complement the efforts of the government towards poverty reduction among Ghanaians.

He commended the organizers for their vision and dedication to the cause of the needy and asked the religious bodies to set up a special fund to assist the District Assembly to raise the low standard of education in the district. The DCE said the Assembly was assisting more than 30 Senior High School students as well as supporting 100 teacher trainees to serve in the district on completion of their courses. Alhaji Bonsu appealed to parents and school management committees to close their ranks and work hard to enhance academic performances in the district. In a sermon, the Reverend B. B. Brown, Pastor of Apostolic Church at Kassapin, urged practitioners of all faiths to create legacies for posterity.

Rev. Brown deplored the lukewarm attitude of Ghanaians towards public property and urged them to intensify the crusade for nationalism. Nana Opunu Awisie Wiredu Brempong, Chief of Kassapin, announced that the joint service was primarily aimed at bringing the numerous religious organizations under one umbrella to enable the town to forge ahead in unity.

He called on his subjects to show passion towards the vulnerable by generously donating in cash and in kind. The chief said the service would become an annual event to raise funds for development projects at Kassapin and appealed to both resident and non-resident citizens to contribute to the development of the town.
