LDS prays for peace in Ghana

A Christmas tree lighting tradition is beginning to take root in the national capital. Last weekend, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), with other invited guests assembled at the serene grounds of the Church Temple in Accra to participate in the 3rd Annual Christmas Devotional and Music Programme.

In a letter of invitation to ADM, Elder Thane and Joan Hales of the Church said: “The Christmas spirit is the spirit of Christ. It makes our hearts glow in brotherly love and friendship. It is the spirit of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which will bring ‘peace on earth’ because it means goodwill toward all men. It is the love of the Son of God for all mankind. We extend our love and pray for peace and goodwill for all the citizens of Ghana, not only during the Christmas season but all year long”.

It was indeed a night of inspirational music and prayer and when the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) struck the Ghana National Anthem, the large audience stood to attention to “give Caesar his due”. Featuring with the NSO were the Deseret Voices and Jeep Choir and Bethlehem Children’s Choir.

Deputy Interior Minister, Mr. Agyeman-Man assisted Church President Craig A. Cardon to light this year’s Christmas Tree. The Christmas Message was delivered by Stake President Charles Sono-Koree.
