Brother James Kainyiah, Public Affairs Director of the Takoradi Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has said it is the responsibility of every Christian to serve and help the vulnerable in the society.

“We serve the community to emulate Christ and our name Mormon which means doing good,” he said.

Brother Kainyiah made these remarks on Saturday during a clean-up exercise organized by the church in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The members of the Church weeded compounds, cleared drains and cleaned wards at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Essikado Hospital and Kwesimintsim Polyclinic.

They also cleaned the Takoradi Hospital, Shama District Hospital, Second Battalion of Infantry Hospital and the Twin-City Special School in the twin-city.

Brother Kainyiah said the clean-up exercise formed part of the activities marking the “All Africa Helping Hands Service Project” undertaken annually throughout Africa in August.

Mr Jeffery Andoh, Senior Records Officer at the Esikado Hospital expressed his appreciation to the church and appealed to other religious groups, corporate organisations and individuals to emulate the example of the Church.
