Accra, June 1, GNA - Christians have been urged to see the expression of their spiritual growth in deed, as a matter of responsibility to the society in which they live in. Speaking under the theme: "Let us go on to Maturity: Living according to the will of God, Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana who made the call, said: "letting your spiritual maturity become meaningful in one's life, determines whether one is growing or not.
"Those who spend their time in constant gossip and nagging have hardly began to grow," Right Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso said when he commissioned 25 ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to serve in various capacities across the country. He noted that growing into maturity in the Lord was a compelling one adding, "Christians need to willingly choose to mature spiritually and put away childish things, which do not help in advancing the kingdom".
Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso reminded Christians of the need to constantly read the word of God, which is a weapon to victory. "It was only when Christians lived according to the will of God that the nation would become great and prosperous. "Our circumstances would not change if we do not use the word of God effectively. If we do not apply them to ourselves, we would be like people who are thirsty in the midst of a river and are not drinking," Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso stressed. He, therefore, charged the pastors and ministers of the gospel to conduct themselves well and said: "Your chief motive for entering into the ministry must be the zeal for the glory of God and desire for the salvation of people.
"You must also endeavour to lead exemplary lives through your conduct to God's duty, especially in your family life. Godly fear and holy living is one of the greatest challenges facing us as ministers." Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso said Christians should use their God-given skills and knowledge, to play effective role in the performance of their pastoral duties to advance God's kingdom.
