Accra, March 7, GNA - Ghanaians have been urged to unite and put their trust in God behind President John Atta Mills and the government to ensure a prosperous and peaceful country. The call was made at an ordination service for five ministers of the 'Living Church of God' at Nungua in Accra by its General Overseer, Prophet Solomon Mensah.
He charged them to thank God for guiding the country through the last elections without any bloodshed that had characterized such periods in other African countries.
Prophet Mensah said the comportment of the people during the elections and the smooth transition from the previous government to the new administration confirmed Ghana's position as the "beacon of hope" in African.
He asked the new ministers to be humble and sacrifice to win more souls to the Lord without counting the cost, adding that, "those with the call and the spirit should join the ministry and do the work of God to save mankind from the "Sins of the world". Bishop Nicholas Mintah, President of the Council of African Indigenous Churches and Leader of the World Evangelistic Ministry, who performed the ordination advised the ministers to open their doors to anyone who would need their services. The Reverend Father Michael Maamah of the Lord of Nazareth Church, presented certificates to the newly ordained and charged them to live above reproach since their congregation would be looking up to them for direction. 7
Mills sends condolences on Mrs Tsvangirai's death
Accra, March 7, GNA - President John Atta Mills has sent condolences to the Zimbabwean government on the death of Mrs Susan Tsvangirai, wife of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, following a car crash involving the couple last Friday.
Susan was killed when a truck veered into the opposite lane and slammed into the Premier's car. She was thrown out of the car and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
In his message, President Mills said the government and the people of Ghana were deeply saddened by the death of Mrs Tsvangirai, according to a release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "We wish to convey to you, Mr President, and through you to the people of Zimbabwe, particularly the bereaved family, our heartfelt condolence," said the release, signed by Mr Kingsley Karimu, Supervising Director, Africa and Regional Cooperation Department of the Ministry. Mr Tsvangirai left hospital on Saturday after he was treated of some head and neck wounds he suffered as a result of the crash. 7 March 09
