The Methodist Church, Ghana is to run civic educational programmes on Election 2016.
The programme which would begin from next month, would offer political parties the opportunity to address issues of national concern.
The Rt. Reverend Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, Presiding Bishop-elect, disclosed this at the opening of the Biennial Delegates Conference of the Association of Methodist Church Choirs of the Accra Diocese, in Accra.
Sixteen Dioceses are attending the three-day conference which is on the theme:“Holistic Spirituality".
It is aimed at building the capacity of the participants, and also pray for peace ahead of Election 2016.
Rt Rev Pratt charged churches to desist from partisan politics, which he said, would destroy the country’s infant democracy.
He called for a bye-law to support the National Sanitation Day which would make it compulsory for every religion to participate in the exercise.
Rt Rev. Pratt who is also the Bishop of Accra, urged choristers to desist from negative tendencies that may tarnish the image of the church.
Mr Kofi Portuphy National Chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC) who chaired the function, commended the Association for winning more souls for Christ.
He urged them to foster unity at all times and also produce songs which promote peace and unity.
Mr Paul Adomako Frimpong-Manso, Chairman of the Association, said during its visitation to some selected hospitals last year, it brought healing to many people through song ministration.
He said the Association would continue to work hard to ensure that more souls were won for the good work of God.
Very Rev. Dr John Abedu Quashie, Senior Lecturer, University of Ghana, Legon called on religious leaders to help their members to develop their God-given talents.
