Kumasi, Aug 14, GNA- The Association of Methodist Men's Fellowships have banned the in-take of alcohol by its members at social events and gatherings.

The decision forms part of measures to inject discipline into the activities of the fellowships, whilst also protecting the health of members from the dangers associated with alcoholism. Mr Asare Yeboah, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the fellowship, who disclosed this, pointed out that the resolution was adopted at a recent National conference of Executives of the Association in Accra. He stressed that it behoved members to comply with the directive in their own interests. Mr Yeboah said this at the induction of a 23-man executive of the Amakom Calvary Methodist Men's Fellowship into office in Kumasi on Sunday.

The theme for the occasion was "You Too Must Stand". Mr Yeboah admonished members of the respective fellowships to be committed to the tenets and ideals of the Methodist Church for an accelerated development of the church.

They should also not shirk their parental responsibilities and be supportive of their wives to ensure stable homes, he stated. The Very Reverend Dr Paul Boafo, Minister in-charge of the Amakom circuit of the Methodist Church, called on the newly-inducted executive to be dedicated to duty to enable them to attain the mission statement of the fellowship.

The executive has Mr Yaw Boateng as chairman, Mr Kwadwo Ntsiful, vice-chairman, Mr Emmanuel Owusu-Adjei, secretary, Mr Isaac Koomson, treasurer and Mr Emmanuel Aboagye, public relations officer.
