Bolgatanga, Dec 19, GNA - Moslems in Bolgatanga on Wednesday morning said prayers at various congregations to mark Eid-Ul-Adha, the festival of sacrifice.

At the sports stadium where the Ahmadis prayed, Maulvi Naveed Ahmed Aadil, Missionary in charge of the Ahmadis in Bolgatanga, said like Abraham, who was ready to sacrifice his son to God, Ahmadis should always be ready to make sacrifices for the benefit of the needy and their faith.

He said it was incumbent on all who could afford to celebrate with the poor and not exchange food and soft drinks with those who already have.

He appealed to all Ahmadis not to compete with each other as to the size or number of the animals they killed, saying that was not important and God only wanted their prayer and their help for the needy. He urged parents to instil in their children good Islamic values and prepare them for missionary work so that they could evangelize the Ahmadis faith within and outside Ghana. "When you make a sacrifice of your children for the sake of God, chose the most intelligent or beautiful son to serve God, your sacrifice should be a perfect one that you make out of love and reverence to God," he said.

The Orthodox Moslems, led by the Deputy Regional Imam, Tahiru Sayid, prayed for the prosperity of the Upper East Region and peaceful elections next year.
