Amasaman (G/A), July 30, GNA - The Mount Ararat Church International with the assistance of Reach D' Ark Foundation, a non-governmental organization, is putting up a modern school complex for the needy at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
The Church is also going into cash crop farming proceeds from which would be used to support its activities.
The Reverend Isaac Kwabena Asante, General Overseer of the Church, announced this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Amasaman on Thursday.
He said the provision of the school, which would offer scholarships to brilliant but needy children, was part of the Church's corporate social responsibility.
Rev. Asante said the scholarship, which would begin from the primary level, would continue to secondary and finally to the university level. This, he said, would equip the beneficiaries to improve upon their standards of living.
Rev. Asante said about 5,000 Ghana cedis had so far been spent on the "Help the Widow and the Aged" project which was started by the Church a year ago.
He appealed to corporate bodies and benevolent organizations to help the Church to realise its dreams.
He thanked the Reverend Samuel Bonsu, General Overseer of the Cornerstone Evangel Church and Pastor Regan Cole, a clergyman, both of the United States of America for their support adding that the Church would establish a hospital for the community in the near future.
