Muslims urged to live above reproach

Alhaji Haji Yunus, Chief Imam of Alisona Muslims, has called on the Muslims community to desist from acts that may bring the Islamic religion into disrepute.

He said Islam stood for peace, unity and love and that everything possible must be done to ensure its sustenance.

Alhaji Yunus was addressing Muslims at the end of the 30-day Fasting of the Muslims (Eid-ur-Fitr) at Madina in the Greater Accra Region on Monday. He regretted that everything bad that happens in every community are said to have been started by Muslims.

“Muslims are branded as crooks, thieves, and armed robbers, he said, adding that, it was now time to change that perception. The Chief Imam appealed to parents to take active interest in the education of their wards to enable them to grow to become useful citizens.

Mr Abdul Rahman Rahim, Assemblyman for Madina West Electoral Area urged the youth to be law-abiding and contribute towards the development of the nation.

Mr Suleman Cheri Cheri, Chairman of the Madina West Muslims Organization, appealed to Muslims to develop love for one another for the promotion and development of the Islamic Religion. Prayers were said for the socio-economic development of the nation.
