Takoradi, Jan. 20, GNA - The Right Reverend John Harvey-Ewusi, Bishop of the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church, has urged Christians to always give thanks to God no matter the circumstances. Speaking at a thanksgiving service, organised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi, Rt. Rev. Harvey Ewusi noted that some Christians became disappointed when things do not go on well for them.
But he reminded people that it was appropriate and in line with the scriptures to "give thanks to God in all things". He said before the December 2008 election, many religious bodies in the country, united and prayed for a peaceful election and a choice of "a leader after Gods own heart". "The entire electoral process has been peaceful and there is the need for all Ghanaians to give thanks to God." he said. He encouraged Christians to pray all times and be patient in all their ways.
Mr Peter Mac Manu, the National Chairman of the NPP, expressed gratitude to all supporters and party faithful for their love, commitment, and dedication as well as voting for the party in the just ended elections.
He encouraged Ghanaians to do away with partisan politics to move the country forward in unity and development. According to him, the party would work extra hard and adopt strategies to enable it win power in 2012.
Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, the defeated presidential candidate of the party, thanked supporters of the party for the love and commitment they exhibited before, during and after the election. He said he was not perturbed about the election because Gods time is the best adding: "I believe the right time will come for us to come to power."
