The General Overseer of Enriching Lives Ministries in the Central Region, Rev. Obed Danquah has observed it is better for government to place its priorities on enacting laws to purge the religious terrain of greed, corruption including other improprieties which has rocked the nation in recent times in a bid to help create ‘God’s holy temple’ in Ghana rather than focusing its attention on construction of the controversial National Cathedral Project.

According to him there’s nothing wrong with government being part of God’s work provided it has the requisite financial strength to execute the task, but he however believes it must first begin the process by implementing a policy to regulate and sanitize the religious system which has been inundated with multiplicities of improprieties.

The construction of the National Cathedral by President Akufo-Addo has sparked a huge public argument with a section of the public raising questions about the relocation of the selected area for its construction since it will cause the demolition of several buildings including the scholarship Secretariat, Passport Office at Ridge and nine bungalows occupied by Appeals Court Judges. Some individuals and groups have described the move as a “misplaced priority” while others have also questioned the financial burden it would have on the nation.

But commenting on the issue briefly in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the 5th anniversary celebration event of the Morgan International Community School(MICS) at Gomoa Manso in the Central Region on Wednesday August 28, 2018, Rev. Obed Danquah said,

“We do have a number of churches in the country today who are not doing things right, as a Reverend Minister, I believe government has the responsibility to ensure that the law is set up in such a way that the principles of God is applied ethically, religiously and humanly without anyone taking advantage of the another”.

The event which coincided with the 58th birthday of the school’s founder, Rev. Obed Danquah was staged in his honor to celebrate him for his laudable achievements that kept the school soaring high since its establishment five years ago.

The day witnessed a colorful ceremony, characterized by varieties of thrilling performances ranging from drama sketches by students, poetry recitals, documentary on history of the school, sonorous music amidst fun galore and jubilation.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the cutting of the birthday cake and the popping of the champagne which gave way to unending toasting amidst fun and great jubilation but the thrill of the occasion came from various delightful messages poured by students which overwhelming eulogized the founder for his feats.

As the saying goes, nothing could be more joyous and fulfilling than to be celebrated while you're still alive and kicking especially on a day that marks your birthday rather than to be eulogized at the time of death, that exactly was the fate of Rev. Obed Danquah on his 58th birthday celebration.

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of a citation by the Acting Head of school, Mr. Boakye Yiadom Opoku on behalf of the entire school to honor Rev. Obed Danquah for his deeds as the school’s founding father.

Acting Head of MICS, Gomoa Manso campus, Mr. Boakye Yiadom Opoku presented a citation on behalf of the entire school to honor Rev. Obed Danquah for his achievements as the school’s founding father.
