Accra, May 23, GNA - The Network of Muslim Youth Organizations in Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the Consular of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ghana, Mr Faramarz Latif, in Accra as part of familiarization visits to its programmes and project implementing partners by its new executive.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday by the Muslim Youth said the Iranian Republic and Cultural Consulate in Ghana had been a major programme implementing partner of the network since its inception. The Consular took the opportunity during the visit last week to congratulate the new executive body and the leadership of the Network for the task to help to mobilize and guide the Muslim youth for the development and the growth of Islam. Mr Latif noted that all over the globe, the youth had a major problem when it came to taking up leadership roles. He also noted that politicians exploited the youth for useless jobs and activities for their personal interest.

Mr Latif said since his arrival in Ghana, he had noticed that Ghanaian youth were losing their culture of respect for the elderly due to the adoption of foreign culture. He tasked the youth in general to endeavour to use the internet to capture the interest of Muslims from Westerners, who had adopted a new strategy of using the internet to rule the world and forcibly imposing their culture on emerging countries, especially Africa. The National Coordinator of the Network, Abass Mohammed, thanked the Consular and said they would do all they could to protect the interest of the Consulate in empowering Ghanaian Muslim youth.
