Kumasi, Oct 19, GNA - The Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, the new Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, on Sunday appealed to Ghanaians to resolve to reject politicians who breed violence in the course of their campaigns and other political activities.

He said such politicians had nothing good to offer the nation and that it was necessary for stakeholders in the political landscape to conduct their activities in a civil manner devoid of rancour and violence. Bishop Asante was preaching at a thanksgiving service to mark his induction into office as the third Bishop at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Kumasi on Sunday.

He succeeded the Right-Reverend Nuh Ben Abubekr who has ended his six-year term.

He appealed to Ghanaians to desist from selling their conscience to politicians who would influence them with money and gifts to vote for them.

Rt Rev Prof Asante urged the church members to bring their expertise, knowledge and experience to bear on the activities of the church to enhance its growth. Very Reverend Samuel Fred Ansuh, Superintendent Minister of the Kumasi Circuit of the church, pledged the support of the members to the new Bishop to enable him discharge his enormous responsibilities effectively. 19 Oct 08
