Accra, April 20, GNA - The Right Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, (PCG) on Sunday called on religious leaders not to sell their conscience during the current politicking but lead the flock in the direction of God. He said, if religious leaders and Ghanaians in general would love and serve God faithfully, Ghana would become the beacon of hope, not only for Africa but the world at large.

Rt. Rev Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso said this when he inducted into office executives of the National Officers' Conference of the PCG for a three-year term.

The Conference meets to discuss theological and pastoral challenges, addresses issues facing ministers and fosters unity among the ministers.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso said Ghana and Africa at large were crying for humble servants of God to serve at all levels. "We as ministers of the gospel and leaders of the church must bring our training and knowledge in Christ to bear positively on society and set the highest example of leadership in service with humility." Rt. Rev Dr. Frimpong-Manso called on leaders to conduct themselves well as mature leaders, disciplined and humble servants of Christ who are responsible to God and his people both in Ghana and beyond.

He called on the officers to regard their responsibility as a higher calling to steer the affairs of the annual conference and urged them to always rely on God for strength, wisdom and insight in the discharge of their duties.

On Elections 2008, Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso called for peaceful elections and consequently healthy co-existence, progress and development of the nation.

The Reverend Professor Benjamin Ntreh, Chairman of the Conference, expressed gratitude to the church for their election and called for financial and spiritual support to enable them to work effectively. The nine national officers of the PCG are Rev. Prof. Ntreh, Chairman, Rev. Dr. Joseph Mante, Vice Chairman, Rev. Opuni Frimpong, Secretary, Rev. George Akyeampong, Assistant Secretary, Rev. Felicia Adu-Kumi, Treasurer and Rev. Joseph Appiah, Financial Secretary. The rest are Ms Edith Osafo Afum, member, Ms Victoria Wayo, member and Ms Margaret Ampadu, member.
