Sunyani (B/A), Jan. 29, GNA - The Reverend Pastor Jacob Yeboah Asiamah, Sunyani East district Pastor of the End Time Assemblies of God church has urged Christians to show greater commitment to Ghana's 50th anniversary celebrations.
He entreated them to exhibit a high sense of patriotism in all their endeavours so as to make their faith in God complete. Rev. Pastor Asiamah was preaching to climax a three-day conference of the Women's ministry of the church in Sunyani at the weekend. He noted that no nation could attain its desired objectives if the Christian community showed less concern for national issues. Rev. Pastor Asiamah said it was incumbent on every citizen of the country irrespective of political or religious affiliation to support activities lined up for the jubilee celebrations.
Touching on the theme for the conference, "Arise and let us build", the religious leader stressed that apathy and unpatriotic attitudes could plunge the nation into chaos and tasked Christians to be proactive in their service to the nation.
Rev. Pastor Asiamah told the gathering that, but for the high sense of concern and compassion imbued in women, society would be in jeopardy and challenged women to rekindle their devotional spirit and persuade men to emulate them.
He called on parents to leave behind beneficial legacies that would help their children to lead dignified lives.
Mrs. Juliana Ayamkah Sankoe, Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the women's ministry of the church, reminded women that their conduct had greater influence on their children; hence they had the power to shape the trend of society.
"That means we can not avoid blame if the rot in society should persist" she stressed.
Mrs. Sankoe indicated that the ministry was waging a crusade against all forms of licentiousness among the youth and called for support from the general public.
Mrs. Pastor Lydia Boahen, Sunyani East representative of the women's wing explained, "a well organized and purposeful woman was a great asset to every nation".
She said the conference was aimed at equipping women with the requisite skills to help in the management of their homes and businesses for effective nation building. 29 Jan 07
