Pastors advise not to interfere with postings

Ministers of the gospel have been advised not to interfere with their postings and transfers to new stations to serve mankind.

Reverend Dr Major Bliss Devine Agbeko, Moderator, Meridian Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, said pastors are sent to propagate God's words to humanity, hence they should accept postings and transfers anywhere.

Rev Dr Major Agbeko made the call at the commissioning thanksgiving service in honour of Rev Philip Yaw Atsiago held at the Seraphim Congregation at Kaneshie in Accra.

Rev Atsiago was among 33 newly commissioned pastors by the E.P church, made up of 24 male and nine female, who had their three-year training from the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon and Peki Theological Seminary, Peki.

Preaching the sermon on the theme: “Not seven times, but seventy times seven" Rev Dr Major Agbeko said it was wrong for pastors to interfere with these processes.

He described those pastors who interfere with the processes as "self-fish" pastors, who only want better congregations.

"When you are transferred or posted to anywhere, make sure you go and allow God's will to be done," he said.

On the issue of forgiveness, he urged Christians to forgive each other, no matter the circumstance, adding that “do not repay evil with evil”.

Rev Dr Major Agbeko said Christians who find it difficult to forgive people easily do not attract the favour of the Lord, indicating it was a must for God's children to forgive.

The Moderator called on congregations to continue to support their pastors morally, spiritual and financially in the discharge of their duties and also co-operate with them to grow and develop the church.

Rev Atsiago expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for how far he had brought him, through his pastoral training and called on the congregation to continue to pray for him daily.
