Peki-Wudome, Oct. 10, GNA - The Peki-Wudome branch of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, has proposed to add six landmark projects to its credit since the Church was established at Peki-Wudome 100 years ago by the North Bremen Missionary Society. The projects include a Centenary House made up of a 50 bed-room guesthouse with modern catering facilities, a frequency modulation (FM) station for evangelism and pastoral work, dissemination of improved agricultural extension services and advertising services for micro-enterprises in the area, as well as five and three bedroom residence respectively for the resident pastor and catechist. There will also be a resource centre for ICT training for schools, the Church members and the community, internet services, distance education and video conferencing, a library, multi-purpose syndicate rooms and a conference centre.

The Church also intends to undertake a micro-enterprise scheme to provide entrepreneurial skills training, micro enterprise development and micro finance.

Other projects envisaged are a preventive medical care centre, a facility for training in planning schemes and eco-tourism development. The Church plans to finance these projects through the "development of rational business proposals, sponsorship and donations from individuals and organizations" whose contributions "will be gratefully acknowledged".

The open-ended projects, which are spelt out in the Church's Centenary brochure are expected to transform the social and economic life of the Church and the community.

The Church had in the past 100 years with its sister branches in the traditional area spearheaded the development and popularization of formal education, the planting of Christianity and Presbyterian discipline, which have become synonymous with the Peki traditional area.

Preaching the sermon on Sunday to climax the Centenary celebration under the theme: "The Impact of Christianity on Peki-Wudome-The Way Forward," Right Reverend Dr Livingstone Buama, Moderator of the Church, assured Christians that "only a small amount of faith is all that they need to accomplish great things". He said the past was essential in focusing on the present to be able to project into the future. Togbe Okai-Twum, chief of Peki-Wudome said he felt greatly elated as the grandson of the chief who welcomed the Church into the community. He pledged his personal support to the Church in its efforts to improve the lives of the people and called for unity of all segments of the community in building a happy and prosperous community.
