The perennial water problems facing inmates of the Amanfrom Camp Prisons near Kumasi has been solved following the largesse of the Asokwa Area Pentecost Church.

The church had constructed a borehole at the prison which could ensure constant supply of potable drinking water for the prisoners who are serving various jail terms at the facility.

The Asokwa Area Pentecost Church also donated a cash amount of GHc1,000 and various food items to help make life easier and comfortable for the prisoners being held at the facility.

The commissioning of the borehole was done by the Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons, DDP Lord Nii Boye Tagoe, and it was witnessed by members of the Pentecost Church.

Addressing the gathering during the short and colourful ceremony, DDP Tagoe lamented over the water problem which posed difficulties for both inmates and prison officers at the facility.

He said the help from the Pentecost Church had come at the right time, pointing out that the commendable gesture would prevent prisoners and officers from walking distances just to fetch water.

According to him, walking distances to fetch water negatively affected the operations of the Amanfrom Camp Prisons, expressing joy that the problem had been solved.

Assistant Ashanti Regional Prisons PRO, Lance Corporal George Owusu, thanked the Pentecost Church for their support, urging corporate bodies and well-to-do people in the society to always come to the aid of the prisons.
