Prayer alone does not produce grades- UCC VC

Professor Domwini Kuupole, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has advised students of the University not to only dedicate their time to praying but should endeavour to study to enable them to make good grades.

He expressed worry about the fact that some pastors encouraged students to only pray and leave the rest to God, saying “Heaven only helped those who help themselves” and reminded them that laziness does not pay.

Prof. Kuupole, who made the call on Sunday during a non-denominational thanksgiving service held on the Campus, urged the students to ‘transform their prayers into action’.

The non-denominational service climaxed the year- long celebrations of the UCC Golden Jubilee and was attended by hundreds of students and other members of the University community as well as a cross-section of the general public.

The service was under the theme, “Our year of Jubilee”.

The VC was grateful to God for bringing the university to where it is now and prayed for more of His grace and blessings.

He advised the students to take their studies very serious and manage their time well to grow into responsible adults and role models in future.

Reverend Dr. Alex Nana Yaw Obeng, Senior Pastor of the Living Springs Ministry and guest preacher for the occasion pointed out that the elements of jubilee were freedom, rest and restoration.

He urged the congregation to liberate themselves from their past and all forms of sin and also forgive one another in order to see the goodness of God and receive His blessings in abundance.
