Presbyterian Church will not change its day of worship

Tamale, Nov. 10, GNA - The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has said it would not change its day of worship because of the December 07 election that falls on a Sunday.

The decision is contained in a pastoral letter from the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, Rt. Rev Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso. The letter said although the church anticipated the inconveniences polling on Sunday would bring to its churches, particularly those whose premises would be used as polling stations, "We still maintain that our day of worship as a church is Sunday and not Saturday." The church appealed to its congregations to arrange a convenient time within that day to attend church services and also find time to cast their votes as good citizens.

It asked those whose premises would be used as polling stations to make alternative arrangements for space to worship if they do not want to worship at dawn or after the election. Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso urged Christians to continue to pray for peaceful, fair and transparent election.
