Presbyterian School teachers should instil discipline in pupils- Rev Ayete-Nyampong

Koforidua, Sept. 25, GNA-Reverend Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, Chairperson, Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on all teachers employed by Presbyterian schools to instil the proverbial ‘Presbyterian discipline’ in their pupils.

He said that was the only sure way of bringing down the high rate of indiscipline among the youth in Ghana in recent times.

“Considering the high rate of indiscipline among our young people both in school and outside school, it would be proper to bring back the Presbyterian discipline in our schools and instil it in our children before the unexpected happens in future”, he emphasized.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong made the call when he paid a working visit to some selected Presbyterian schools at Adweso near Koforidua and Okorase on Friday as part of his official visit to the Adweso-Mile 50 District of the Church.

At the Trinity Presbyterian Model Schools, the Chairperson commended the Headmistress and the staff for their dedication and commitment to the school over the years which had positioned it as one of the best public basic schools in the country.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong urged the staff not to rest on their oars but continue to work harder to achieve more laurels for the school.

He assured them that the Presbytery and for that matter the Church would continue to support its schools in diverse ways and therefore called on all stakeholders to join hands with them.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong promised to make a personal donation of ten bags of cement to support the construction of a four-unit classroom block on campus.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Elizabeth Owusu-Ansah, said the school had achieved a lot of laurels since its establishment, and this had increased their numerical strength.

She appealed to the Presbytery to support them to finish the ongoing classroom block to enable them admit more children.

At the Okorase Presbyterian schools, the Chairperson commended the staff for helping the children to build their future through teaching.

He urged them to be disciplined and serve as example for the children they were teaching and avoid anything that would bring their profession and their personal life into disrepute.
