Accra, Jan. 18, GNA - The Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, on Wednesday urged the Government to step up policies on children, who are the bedrock of the nation, to make them feel part and parcel of the society. "Government and the church have a responsibility to put in place vibrant policies that would create an enabling environment that would give the country's future leaders a solid foundation", he said. Speaking at a dissemination workshop on 93Policy on Children's Ministry of the Presbyterian Church" in Accra Right Rev. Frimpong-Manso said 93unfortunately communalism has been sidelined and individualism has slowly taken its place and this is not good for the country".

These, among other reasons, led to the formulation of the Children's Ministry Policy to streamline all the rough edges and to help in the nurturing of children in the church.

He said the Children's Ministry helped the Church's biological growth and gave them a solid foundation in Christ so that their fundamental godly principles were not found wanting when doubts and other attractions of the world set in as they grew. The Children's policy of the Church, which was launched in April 2006, seeks to highlight the vision, mission and objectives of the Ministry.

Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso said he was hopeful that the policy would help to build a vibrant Children's Ministry to ensure that every child grew up as a strong Christian in the home, community and the Church as well as have a positive impact on the country.

Mr Ludwig Hesse, a member of the National Committee on Children's Ministry of the Church, said some of the objectives of the document were that Christian parents and guardians were educated on how to bring up their children as Christians.

The document, he said, should serve as a guide for the handlers of the Ministry as they evangelised and developed the children holistically.

Mr Hesse urged members to draw action plans to help in the implementation of the document.
