Accra, April 22, GNA - Members of the Asylum Down Presbyterian Church were on Sunday reminded to go out into the world and preach the word of God as part of the "Great Commission," which enjoins members of the congregation to win at least, a soul for Christ by the end of the year.
Mrs Veronica Ntim Manteaw, Wife of the Host Pastor, threw the challenge in a sermon on the theme: "Go Out and Make Disciples." She said all that God needed from Christians was to reach out to the needy and those who did not know about the love of Christ. "The rest is for God to do; yours is to preach the word," she advised and expressed disappointment that after 178 years of existence of the Presbyterian Church membership was about 600,000 as at the last census conducted in the church.
"Ghana has about 20 million people and if Presbyterians after 178 years of existence are only about 600,000 in membership then we have disappointed God," she stressed.
Mrs Manteaw, urged Christians to des ire sharing the word of God in an attempt to obey the commandment which God gave. She also used the platform to talk to the members of the church about the new education reform as the day marked the beginning of Education Week on the Presbyterian calendar. 22 April 07
