Head and Founder of Maker’s House Chapel International, Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye, has emphasized that while the pulpit promotes divine agenda and that it does not allow for a personal agenda.

“The business of the church is to do church,” Dr. Nyamekye explained on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, October 3, 2024, noting that the primary role of the pulpit is spiritual instruction. However, he was clear that this platform must also focus on higher goals: “The pulpit is not used to promote a personal agenda; the pulpit is used to promote a divine agenda.”

He also stressed the need for church leaders to confront social issues like corruption when necessary. “If the lesson you are dealing with is supposed to speak against corruption, you don’t shy away from it. You speak against corruption because that is what the scripture demands,” he said.

Dr. Nyamekye urged pastors to address difficult topics if scripture calls for it.

At the same time, Dr. Nyamekye pointed out that the pulpit alone is not enough to tackle societal issues. “The pulpit cannot be the straight jacket for everything in society. It has its place,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of extending leadership beyond Sunday sermons. He further encouraged pastors to take action beyond their preaching: “Even after you’ve spoken publicly in your pulpit, what do you do outside it?”

Dr. Nyamekye also advocated for youth leadership, calling on public figures to mentor and guide the next generation to take ownership of Ghana’s future. “Ghana should be owned by the youth,” he said, emphasizing the role of public figures in nurturing future leaders.

He urged his peers and influential personalities, such as KOD, to instill a sense of collective responsibility in their followers. “All of you have to also let the people that look up to you know that this is the only Ghana we have,” he concluded, calling for unity in driving the nation toward positive change.
