A Christian book titled: “The New Birth—The Gateway To Eternal Life,” which dwells on the theory of Born Again and interspersed with the doctrine of salvation, was over the weekend launched in Accra.
The 224-page book, which was launched at the auditorium of Odorkor Official Town Assemblies of God, Accra, is authored by the Head Pastor of Fountain of Life Assemblies of God (A/G), Reverend Collins Kodjoe.
At a short but colourful ceremony, Reverend Kodjoe, who is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, South Campus, Kormantse, near Saltpond in the Central Region, disclosed that the main purpose of the book is to categorically affirm that a person can be saved from sin and its penalty and obtain eternal life only by being born again.
“So in this book I have attempted to correct the misconceptions people have about salvation. I have also sought to help the reader understand the new birth, the necessity of the new birth, and elements that make a person experience the new birth among others,” Reverend Kodjoe said.
According to him, apart from the book explaining the Born Again theory, it, more importantly, makes the point that a person can attain eternal life by being born again.
The daily internal strife that goes on within the Christian, Reverend Kodjoe said, has also been thoroughly explained with a prescription for overcoming these challenges.
Against this background, the Assemblies of God pastor encouraged Christians to patronise the book as it will empower and enrich one’s Christian life.
“…and for those who are not yet born again I encourage you to let the book inspire you to personally experience the Christian concept of Book Again,” he urged.
Reverend Kodjoe further revealed that it took him thirteen (13) years to write the book which happens to be his maiden book, stressing that it was without challenges.
“So on 30th March, 2013 this glorious but challenging journey was set in motion,” he said.
The man of God therefore, used the opportunity to express gratitude to personalities who contributed in diverse ways to making his dream of publishing his first book a reality.
These, according to him, included Uncle James Ebo Whyte, Reverend John Avorgah, Reverend Justice Yankson, Larry Noble Woode and members of the Fountain of Life Assemblies of God, Manhean, Ablekuma in Accra.
He also expressed appreciation to his parents—Reverend Mr. and Mrs. Agyare—and most importantly to his family (wife and four children) for their unflinching support.
Launching the book Reverend Eric Obeng-Duro of the Living World Worship Centre at Saki-Bediako near Michel Camp, Accra stressed that writing a book was not an easy task.
“It’s not only about the conception of the idea but the sleepless nights of flipping through books, putting words together to make sense and most importantly the challenge of logistics and finance,” he pointed out.
However, he indicated that the joy of writing a book is for the author to learn that his/her book was affecting lives positively.
To this end, he entreated Christians not only to buy the book but apply the information in the book on their daily lives.
The Chairman for the occasion, Dr. Freeman Osei-Tete, a Senior Lecturer at the Central University, commended Pastor Kodjoe for the efforts he put into the writing of his first book.
An auction sale of the book was sold between GHC500-GHC20 per a copy.
