Reverend Minister bemoans growing immorality among the youth

Kumasi, May 31, GNA - The Reverend Edward Ray Cudjoe Odame, General Overseer of King's Church, Ghana, has bemoaned the growing immorality amo ng the country's youth saying it was ruining their future. He said the rate at which young people were taking to hard drugs, alcohol and promiscuity, culminating in the spread of sexually transmitte d diseases including the deadly HIV/AIDS, gave cause for concern. He therefore appealed to the church to intensify its evangelism to h elp transform and protect the youth from bad habits.

The Rev. Odame was speaking to the Ghana News Agency ahead of the silver jubilee celebration of the church in Kumasi. The three-day event would be held in August under the theme; "Pressi ng on with Jesus." Activities lined up include donation to some health facilities, clean-up exercises, evangelism and games. He said Christians as agents of change should work hard to turn peop le away from evil and lead upright lives. Rev. Odame said the Kings Church has within the past 25 years not on ly focused on assisting in the spiritual upliftment of the people but the physical needs of society. He said the goal of the church was to open more schools to make quality education accessible to all children and had planned to establish

well-stocked public libraries in the 10 regions.

Rev Odame said they were now building a GH¢500,000.00 auditorium a t their headquarters at North-Suntreso in Kumasi. 31 May 10
