Reverend Nii Ashikwei Kuma Ollenu, was on Sunday inducted into office as the Resident Minister of the United Church, Teshie Nungua Estate in Accra.

Rev Victor O. Abbey, Chairman of the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in a sermon on the theme: “Greatness in Service,” called on Christians to be agents of change and propagate the gospel to transform others.

“Christians have been called to serve by preaching the word of God, heal the sick, bring comfort to the distressed and give hope to the hopeless,” he added.

Rev Abbey said it behooves Christians to emulate the examples of Jesus Christ by leaving a life pleasing to society and be able to serve with humility as well as work together to achieve spiritual wellbeing of all.

He said there is the need for Ghanaians to unite and love one another as a prerequisite for promoting national peace and development.

Rev Abbey appealed to people serving in leadership positions to be guided by the spirit of humility and love and eschew any negative tendencies that would affect the growth of the Church and country.

Rev Abbey underscored the importance of pastoral work and urged the newly inducted Minister to show tolerance, dedication, humility and good inter-personal relations among church members.

In his response, Rev Ollenu accepted the challenges imposed on him by his installation and promised to create a good image of the vocation through love for his people and with unity of purpose as his watchword.

He thanked God for calling him to serve in the Ministry and called for a resolute support and prayers from members to steer the affairs of the Church.

The United Church was first established as an amalgamation of four orthodox Christian traditions-the Anglican, the Methodist, the Presbyterian and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and that with the passage of its new constitution, the Church has acquired a broader character and embraces all Christian denominations.

Rev Ollenu was born on August 31, 1976, at La-Accra and had his Master of Advanced studies in Ecumenical studies at the University of Geneva, Switzerland in 2015.

He is married to Mrs Yvonne Ollenu and blessed with two children.

Other dignities presents include Rev Dr Opuni Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana and Captain Richard Lartey, Senior Elder, United Church.
