Accra, July 10, GNA - Prophet Emmanuel Opoku Acheampong, Presiding Bishop of Mt. Zion Action and Prayer Ministries on Friday suggested that people who murder for ritual purposes must be sentenced to death. He said Government should come out with stiffer punishment for the youth who involved themselves in cyber fraud popularly known as "sakawa" to deter others from indulging in it.
Prophet Acheampong made the suggestions in an interview with newsmen at a two-week revival session with his church members at Ofankor in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region. He said ritual killings was destroying the good image of the country and should not be entertained. Prophet Acheampong said it was not scarcity of jobs in the country which was pushing the youth into engaging in occultism but rather the youth did not like to work but they want to acquire sophisticated things like mobile phones, expensive clothing and cars. "They can even sell ice water to cater for themselves," he added. He therefore urged parents to question their children on the sources of their incomes.
Speaking on the theme for the revival, "Position of Blessing", Prophet Acheampong said Ghana has positioned herself strategically in its democratic dispensation and therefore investors were coming in to develop the country. He urged Ghanaians to think of the country first and avoid ethnicity so that, together, the nation can move forward. 10 July 09
