30 Plus One Hymns Stories,’ a compilation of selected Methodist Hymns and the stories behind them has been launched in Accra.

The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, was the special guest of honour together with members of Parliament and former ministers of state who graced the book launch at the Calvary Methodist Church in Accra.

The compilation was done by the author Very Reverend K. Anderson, who doubles as Superintendent Minister of the Accra North Branch of the Methodist church in Adabraka-Accra.

Rev. Anderson said he drew inspiration from the Methodist hymns and the life of their authors to write the book, so that Christians can understand the meaning and stories behind the hymns.

On why he chose the 31 hymns, Rev. Anderson explained God used the Day to Day experiences as well as special events in the lives of the writers of the hymns to communicate his message to humans hence his decision to highlight those hymns out of many.

According to Rev. Anderson, the selected hymn writers stood by their faith during harsh times, experiencing setbacks but remained resilient. He said should readers gain comfort and renewed hope after reading the book, the book’s purpose would have been served.

Copies of the book sold for as low as 100 Ghana Cedis to 2000 Ghana Cedis.

Personalities who graced the occasion include Mrs. Joyce Aryee, Mrs. Giffy Afenyie Dadzie, Madam Faustina Nelson and Papa Owusu Ankomah.
