Seek a closer relationship with God, not miracles

A member of the communication team of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Samuel Amoako, has advised Christians to seek an intimate relationship with God and all other things will follow.

According to him, following miracles, sign and wonders is likely to put one at a difficult corner; however, if one draws close to God, the miracles will follow.

His remark comes on the heels of the death of four people at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) branch at the Spintex Road.

In their quest to get ‘holy water’ blessed by founder of the church, Prophet T.B. Joshua, four Christians died and several got injured when the huge congregation at the Church rushed for it.

Speaking to the issue on Monday’s edition of "Kokrokoo" with host Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Samuel Amoako described the incident as unfortunate and added that even though people have the right to believe in anything they want; ‘drawing closer to God in prayer will solve their problems’.

“It is not something to be happy about. It is a worrying situation. It can be true that it is an issue of faith but this is serious. This is more of people following miracles than a normal church service. As a Christian, if you go on your knees and pray, just as the Bible says, your request will be granted. People who feel insecure, helpless and sometimes, laziness often turn to fall victim to some of these things,” he indicated.

He however urged pastors and leaders of the church to put their arrangement right especially when they want to host such big events. He added that the church should also find a way of compensating the victims as well as their families.

“I will urge my fellow Christians not to pay too much attention to miracles but seek a personal relationship with God; they should not put their trust in men but in God…” he added.
