Sermon on Mount Afadzato: Practice what you preach (Part 1)

Agooo!! Megagbloe ken, agooo!! (Give way!! I repeat, give way!!) To you the elders of the land I say agooo!! Let me clear my throat and pour out only the purest of words at this time. You may be wondering why I have chosen Mount Afadzato, the highest point in the land of Ghana to communicate this exhortation for the season. It is because the Almighty has instructed me so. You could say that I live to do His bidding. As with fervent preaching of the likes of the prophet Elijah, this preaching is made of one thing: truth. Therefore let me proceed to invoke the deity of Yeshua so that what is to come to pass in the earth would be known. Oh? Is that a song I hear in my spirit Well then it must be heard. Where is the prophet's drummer Come! In the name of the living God, beat as only the ruach (spirit) of Yahweh will permit.

(Drummer begins to play)

Poto poto!! Taka taka!!

Potot poto!! Taka taka!!

Poto, kpata, kpata!! Kpata, kpata!! Po kpah!!

(Song finally comes)

Evhe duko! Mise da loo!! (Evhe nation!! Listen up!!)

Anlo zu ahamasisi!! (Anlo has become an allusion) Sagbadre tae!! (It???s because of the swallow)

Mebe Evhe dukooooo!! Mise da loooooo!! (I say Evhe nation!! Listen up!!) Anlo zu ahamasisi!! (Anlo has become an allusion) Sagbadre tae!! (It???s because of the swallow)

Midzi, midzi!! (Sing it, sing it!!) Midzi, midzi!! (Sing it, sing it!!) Midzi, midzi!! (Sing it, sing it!!) (Rhythm guitar interlude)

So, he that is without sin cast the first stone! Where are they, those whose money has worked in the interest of setting apart the interest of God from the interest of man? You are guilty. Receive your portion. Where are they, those whose teachings have perverted justice in the land? You are guilty. Receive your parable. Where are they, those whose lies have corrupted a generation of young people and inspired them to love money? You are guilty. Receive your inheritance: your children will be taken from you. You the scholar! You the academic who says there is no God. Your foolishness will now consume you and in the pity of your madness, children will make right decisions.

(TV Announcer Interjects with blank screen) We are sorry to announce that our regular broadcast of this week???s Sabbath teaching has been officially cancelled. We will now interrupt this broadcast to bring you an exhortation. Today???s teaching has been cancelled and substituted with this exhortation on the subject of justice, judgment and equity at the request of the King.

The Definitions of Justice, Judgment and Equity

What is justice? It is righteousness. What is judgment? It is God???s verdict. What is equity? It is the just scales that God uses to measure our individual conduct according to the law of sowing and reaping. Let me speak to the leaders of the Republic of Ghana. No I am not talking about the politicians. In fact, they are the furthest group from my mind. I am talking about the parents of the Republic of Ghana. You who say we are mature and are therefore ready to produce children. You who say that I am in the right, even though your method of child rearing speaks ill of the righteousness of the living God. Hear these exhortations from the word of God for the season.

Honour thy Father and Mother (Then why is it not well with me?)

It is written, ???Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee??? (Exodus 20:12). It is also written, ???Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee??? (Deuteronomy 5:16).

Parents of the republic please consider that there is a cry of frustration that has reached the ears of heaven. It is a cry from a generation of young people who are confused and dejected. Why? Ask yourselves. You say to the boy of thirteen years: ???the Bible says that you should respect your parents.??? Can the preacher tell you the truth? You need to quote the word and not your own words. Children, stop giggling! It is wrong to mock your parents! Daddy, mommy, it reads ???honour??? and says absolutely nothing about ???respect???. Yes, our common usage of today accepts the two words as the same. However, the spirit of your rhetoric has much of the time been to teach the child ???respect of persons??? with neither regard for truth nor honouring the choices of God before your own choices that are rooted in your love of personal or family prestige.

Young ones let me point out that God is a seer. Yes, He is able to see infinitely into the future and know what a generation of young people will be up against. He knew there would be such a thing as the Republic of Ghana and that there would be a Ghanaian elder. So guess what? He loves you and feels your pain. Did you hear that daddy? Did you hear that mommy? The word was ???pain???. There are different forms of pain. The type I am talking about is not the good kind. The children are in pain because they are confused about some of the choices you impose on them (the kinds of choices that violate the truths and choices of God).

Young people your command is to honour father and mother. Give your parents a place of esteem in your life. In other words, hear what they have to say and learn from what they tell you. However, there is a word of caution I must give you. It deals with whether or not it will go well with you in the land God has given you. You dwell in Ghana. And judging by the headlines, all is not well in Ogyakrom. Therefore, all cannot be well in the Ghanaian family unit.

If you honour your parents and all is not well with you, it can mean only one thing: you are showing respect of the personage of parents but are not honouring God. God???s original intention for providing a law of parental honour to Israel was so that the spirit of leadership could point straight to him from generation to generation. This means that daddy and mommy should honour God in their choices; if they honour God, then they would have the authority to teach you to honour God and out of that would come their own honour. The master parent is the living God. If you obey Him with heart, soul, mind and strength, this will either endear you to your parents (if they are right with God), or it will bring you into direct conflict with them (if they are committed divine lawbreakers). See Mark 12:30 and pray to your father in heaven if you have any concerns. God bless you. Stay in touch for Part 2 of this series.
