The Seventh-Day Sabbath Church of Christ has opened a school which is catering for the educational needs of the poor and the needy at Anyaa in the Ga Central Municipality.

The school which started as a crèche, has now reached Junior High School level, without pupils paying any fees.

Apostle Okoh Agyemang, Assistant Apostle of the Church, disclosed these in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday.

He said five out of the seven candidates presented at the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) last year, had aggregate six, with the two obtaining aggregate seven.

Apostle Agyemang said 10 out of the 14 students who were given scholarships to pursue degree courses at the University, have completed.

He disclosed that the church has acquired a large tract of land in Accra, which will soon be developed to establish a senior high school, university and a hospital, to cater for the health needs of the poor and the needy.

The Assistant Apostle said, as part of its social responsibility, the church would continue to assist the vulnerable in society and also contribute to national development.

He appealed to religious leaders to seek the welfare of their members, and desist from acts which may tarnish the good image of the clergy.
