Stay away from corruption - Rev Dr. Frimpong Manso

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Paul Yaw Frimpong Manso, has challenge Pastors and Christians to stay away from corruption saying if Christians, that form more than half of Ghana's population will obey the word of God and refrain from corrupt practices, Ghana will move forward.

He stated that many pastors today were not fulfilling the mission of God but creating wealth through exploitation.

Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso was preaching at the 11th public ordination service of 14 pastors for the Assemblies of God church in Eastern Region at the Calvary Assembly of the Assemblies of God Church, Koforidua Central.

He said corruption cannot be attributed to the government and its officials, but all aspects of society, adding that the missing baby saga at the Komfo – Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi is an example of a corrupt practice.

“Government workers must work hard to ensure high productivity to correspond with the salaries they earn,” he lamented.

The General Superintendent of the church said the rate at which ungodly things are gaining grounds in the House of the Lord is very worrying. He added Pastors amassing wealth, chasing tittles, duping members, and displaying arrogance among men of God as perfect examples to buttress his point.

He said the increased rates of corruption, crime and indiscipline in some churches were clear indications that the Christian Community had to double its effort and urged the newly ordained ministers to lead upright lives worthy of emulation. The Church would not hesitate to dismiss any pastor who contravened the rules.

He therefore, called on the Christian Community to be concerned about the moral decadence in the Church, the numerous media reports of pastors involved in social vices and the use of the pulpit to fuel tribal sentiments.

Meanwhile, Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso has slammed the mini-skirt comments made by a senior minister of the gospel recently in the country describing the comment as unfortunate explaining that the House of the Lord is a sacred place, therefore, indecent dresses must not be allowed.

According to him, some pastors have accepted to indecent dresses in their homes so much that they have lost the moral authority to condemn such dresses in the House of the Lord.

He said the Assemblies of God Church will not tolerate any indecent dresses regardless of one's status in the Church.

Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso advised the 14 ordained ministers to lead exemplary lives to serve as a guide to their congregants. He entreated them to be steadfast in the word of God to overcome challenges that are bound to meet them as they begin full ministration.

The 14 ordained ministers are Rev. Eugene Osei Agyepong, Rev. Emmanuel Kwame Teye, Rev. Glover Edward Tetteh, Rev. Dziwornu Clement, Rev. Cephas Asigbetse, Rev. Buabeng Joseph Richard, Rev. Berko Alex Karikari, and Rev. Charles K. Osei. The rest are Rev. Nick Aboagye, Rev. William Amuzu, Rev. James Odoi Ansah, Rev. Isaac Obeng Twumasi, Rev. Mrs. Joyce Ansah Yeboah Koffi and Rev. Samuel Kwaku Amponsah.

He said the Church has targeted to open 3,000 new assemblies across the country in the next five years; therefore, the newly ordained reverend ministers should embark on evangelism to win more souls for Christ and the church.

In a related development, 10 pastors were promoted to Licentiate ministers while 18 pastors were also promoted to Exhorter ministers and among the exhorters was Pastor Prophet Albert Asihene-Arjarquah.

Rev. Stephen Ohipeni Narh was introduced as the new Eastern regional Superintendent of the Church who takes over from Rev. Alex Ofori Amankwaa who steps down at Akyem Bunso during the church council meeting this year.
